This Earth Hour, go beyond the hour!
We all have a responsibility for the sustainability of our planet and each of us can make a difference.
I will continue to recycle, and buy locally produced goods and services thereby eliminating thousand of pounds of carbon by reducing fossil fuel transportation demands.
I will also continue to grow my organic fruit and vegetable garden, heal the soil where I can and keep it alive.
Reduce your Carbon Footprint to live an Eco Friendly Life. Here is a list of simple things you can do:
* Replace the light bulbs in your home with energy saving, long life CFL (compact fluorescent) bulbs
*Replace exterior lights with solar-powered ones
*Use rechargeable batteries
*Turn off when not in use (lights, television, DVD player, HiFi, computer, etc.
*Turn down central heating slightly (just 2 degrees will make a significant saving)
*Install thermostatic valves on your radiators
*Insulate your hot water tank
*Recycle your grey water (use for watering plants)
*Water your garden in the evening as this will save water
*For short journeys either walk or cycle
*Buy locally produced goods and services
*Buy organic fruits and vegetables from local farmers markets thereby eliminating harmful insecticides and pesticides that is otherwise used on our planet.
*Filter your own water, rather than buying bottled water
*Wash clothing with cold water as much as possible
*Hang clothing outside to air dry whenever possible
*Recycle as much as possible
